India Bike Week 2016: Day 1 Overview

  • Feb 20, 2016
  • |   Comments
India’s biggest biking festival is back for 2016 and it kick started on the 19th of February at the Arpora Sports Ground here in Goa and BikesIndia is here to report to you live. After the kickoff the first day has concluded here and we have already seen a lot of action happening around here. So here is an amazing overview for all our fans as to what all has transpired on the Day 1 of the IBW.

The first thing to mention is that the footfall for this year has increased extensively more than last year and also the IBW has experienced an increase in the number of bikers as well. Apart from the regular Harleys and Ducatis and the bunch, we also noticed people riding in on many new machines as well which were launched recently. Since the IBW is a huge festival for bikers, the manufacturers didn’t disappoint at all as we had as much as 7 new bike launches from 3 companies. Ducati launched their new Panigale 959; Benelli launched two bikes, the TNT 302 and the TRK 502. But the biggest one was from Triumph which launched 3 new bikes here at IBW which are the Street Twin, Thruxton R and the Bonneville T120. After all this we had a lot of action otherwise as the whole arena is filled with nothing but bikes. There is a Bikini Bike Wash, Custom motorcycles showcase, a lot of Vintage bikes collection up on display along with lovely motorcycle art by many talented artists. We have the Dyno as well for many to test their bikes and also a stall from Shell Oil Company where they launched a new Engine Oil, the Shell Advance Ultra 15W50 Fully Synthetic. And then not to miss out on some amazing adrenaline action, there is an off-road track made where people can take their bikes out for a spin to see how they perform and there is also a Biker’s mall where a lot of accessories companies had stalls put up for people to check out and buy. Apart from all this action, many manufacturers had their stall here. Harley Davidson, Triumph, Ducati, DSK Benelli, Mahindra Mojo, UM Motorcycles and Ceat-Pirelli all have their presence. We even have DC there with their Avanti car on display and also a customized bus for Harley Davidson which is nothing much but a showroom on wheels. But the idea seems pretty cool. Volkswagen also had their presence there being one of the sponsors for the show. There is a stunt ground made as well which is hosting a stunting competition as well as the Loudest Motorcycle competition among many. We even have a custom bike designed and built by Aditya Deshmukh which has been built for IBW and is available to be won for a 500/- raffle. It is a custom bike built on the Royal Enfield 350cc engine. There were also many riders who were invited to share their biking experiences with the crowds as to where they visited and how they did it, etc. And not to miss out after all was the great music that lasted till the night. Now coming to the main event, we had CS Santosh present at the event and was greatly honored by everyone and was pretty much the main highlight of the show. The only Indian to participate in the Dakar Rally and complete it, CS Santosh was there to promote biking and encourage other young budding riders to explore the world of motorsports. There were also a lot of footfalls from foreigners who had come to witness the amazing Indian Biking Festival. It was great fun to see everyone all geared up and enjoying with the things they all love the most; Biking. India Bike Week is a heaven for bikers. It is a biker’s Nirvana if you can say so. We have reached to the end of the first day and now to start with the second day, we are sure that there is going to be a lot more of biking action not to miss out on.

Stay tuned to BikesIndia for more live coverage from the IBW 2016 of Day 2.
