India's only International racing circuit- “Buddh International Circuit” (BIC) situated at the Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. It is basically a sports complex, related to motorsports. It is only months back that this holy procession took place where the Government of India has recognized the motorsports as a kind of sport. What is it meant for? It is meant to conduct international, or the inland racing championships of 2-wheeler and 4-wheeler classes. But recently through the official twitter handle, BIC tweeted an image with caption which meant that now you can throw all sort of parties and your marriage receptions at BIC.
I know the track is meant for driving and riding sessions, for all motoring enthusiasts be it the drivers or the riders the BIC is a sacred place and they even consider it as a blessing for themselves. We don’t think that BIC should allow such parties, but they have to. They have to keep the track in running and an awesome condition, and for that they need to arrange funds and that is why the authorities are lending this sacred place to rich brats against some money. The money is a need and basic requirement to keep the track in working condition, but no enthusiast would like it getting ruined by any non-sense party and non-enthusiast crowd digging in the tents. So what are the ways by which BIC can keep its integrity intact without any such ordeals mentioned above?
The tariff for various activities at BIC is way too expensive, as the majority of the motorsport enthusiasts wishing to visit there belong to middle-class families and do not make any beautiful 5 figure salary. BIC should cut down the fees related to the motoring events and thereby they can encourage huge number of people and events.
BIC can even encourage the various vehicle launches and other events and stuff associated with the word motoring. The last but not the least suggestion from our side is extremely controversial, and it is “GOVERNMENT FUNDING”. Yes, there is no government funding for the motorsports in India, it isn’t so that we don’t have eligible people, who can make to the international championship, but our government actually doesn’t have any interest in the upliftment of the Indian contenders and Indian motorsports. Not traversing any bad image of the BIC, but what I actually want is that Indian Govt. should come up with certain measures to keep the track intact at least.
It’s the Jaypee group who has constructed the renowned and beautiful BIC and the only fully electronic expressway of India, where even a jet fighter can land. Allowing marriage receptions and parties for public seems like treating the International Racing circuit nothing more than a banquet hall. Had the same thing be allowed for any of motorsports personality it would have been considered as privilege and honor for a sports person but same treatment can't be given to a common man.
Please post your reactions in the comment section below on the pic posted by the BIC and the ordeals faced by them and the Indian Motorsports fraternity.
