List of bikes which you should wait until April 2019

The mandatory ABS effect will take place in full swing after April 2019. According to it, all motorcycles above 125 cc will have to have an ABS system on board. Now it can be a single channel or a dual channel unit but there should be some kind of ABS present on them. The best thing about a bike having an ABS is that its safe from wheel locks up on almost any kind of road. The other good thing about those bikes is that they always come in dual disc brakes set up, meaning if a motorcycle has to be fitted with an ABS then it should have disc brakes both at the front and at the rear. In the light of this new discovery, we have come up with a list of bikes which you should wait until April 2019 to buy.

1: Yamaha R15 V3- The bike has been surrounded by one issue after the other. First was the lack of ABS and USD forks, when it was launched. Then it’s loose panels became a figure of controversy. The 2019 variant of the bike is sure to see the “No ABS” problem fixed and hopefully, the tank quality issues too will be solved until then.

2: Bajaj Avenger- The entire series of Bajaj Avenger suffers from the lack of a rear disc and wooden front brakes. Because of a soft suspension, the front end of the bike feels quite vague offers little to no feedback while braking. The rear is a drum, which always underperforms in every situation. The Avenger variant starts from a 180 cc engine and goes up to 220 cc motor. So it should be a no-brainer to fit it with proper equipment. After 2019, the entire Avenger series will be equipped with an ABS system and a rear disc.

3: Bajaj Pulsar 220- Another all-time favorite bike of the people, the Pulsar 220 is the cult which never grew old. The bike is more than 8 years old now and still offers blistering acceleration and smooth power delivery. One complaint on it is the lack of an ABS, which often results in several accidents. The Pulsar 220 is one of the fastest 200 cc bikes in India and has a very sensitive throttle response. It always in a hurry to get going just by a single twist of your wrist. An ABS on this bike, will not only make it a more sensible purchase but will also enable new riders to enjoy the torque machine.

4: KTM Duke 200 and 250- The KTM series of motorcycles are just as notorious as the Pulsar 220 discussed above. They are fast, agile and have no ABS available for them, even as an option. These bikes have been infamous to have been involved in several numbers of accidents, because of their ultra-agile nature. The addition of an ABS will make the Duke 200 and the Duke 250, a safe option.

5: KTM RC 200- The entry-level supersport has almost everything perfect going for it, except an ABS. The bike can do 0-100 in under 10 seconds and has a top speed of 138 km/h. The 2019 version of this bike will see a dual channel ABS system as standard on it, ultimately making it a more safe choice.

If you’re out there during the festive season looking for a new bike and if one of those bikes is on this list. Then think of the long run and wait until April 2019 for a better and more sensible purchase.
