Motorcycle Perimeter Frame- All You Need To Know

  • Oct 6, 2015
  • |   Comments
Motorcycle frames are more than just a piece of hunky metal. They do a lot more to the bike that meets the eye. Many of us ride a bike oblivious to the fact as to which frame is present in their bike. Of course for a common man details like these don’t really make a huge difference, but again knowing a little helps in knowing what your bike is really made of and accordingly how it should perform. And yes, the chassis of the bike makes a huge impact in the performance of the bike by a huge factor; more than you can imagine. Today there are just so many types of frames, Perimeter frame, Diamond frame, Trellis frame, etc. More than really one can remember off the tip of the tongue. But then all these frames have their own unique function and hence they are used accordingly. So today in our topic of discussion is the Perimeter frame. The Perimeter frame is one of the costlier frames in the market and if your bike does get that, consider yourself one of the luckier people out there riding your bike because that frame is that good.

What makes the frame so special is the unique design of the frame. The entire USP of the frame is that it is strong and made from pressed metal and not welded. Which means all the parts of the frame are connected together in such a way that it all comes together as a single piece of metal adding to its rigidity. Also the design of the frame makes it one of a kind. In this frame, the distance from the handle to the swingarm is at the shortest distance. What this allows is for a shorter wheelbase without compromising on any part and hence accordingly gives for a sharper handling characteristic to the bike. Also the engine of the bike is held on to the frame and is not supported below via a cradle making the frame a lot lighter. Add to that there are also the twin beams that go from the handlebar to the swingarm making the frame a lot stronger and agile.

This gives the bike a lot better handling characteristics in a way that the bike will always hold its line in a straight and cornering on it will be a total breeze. The frame is currently largely used on the new Pulsar series of bikes including Pulsar 200NS, AS150, 200AS and RS200. From all the reviews the bike has garnered the common point has been that this bike is the best handling Pulsar yet and that is all because of the perimeter frame and nothing else.

So tomorrow when you go through a corner and the bike holds on like a charm, just remember that it is all because of the magic of the Perimeter frame. Now you can have all the fun you want to have with your bike with the perimeter frame on it. It is important to understand the true value of your machine and the frame is one of it.
