Tech Talk: Multidirectional Paddock Stands

Paddock Stands are no longer a fancy accessory for your motorcycles, they have become a must for all high end performance machines. Sport bikes come devoid of center stand and parking them on a tight space or on uneven surface, be it for servicing or simply for parking purpose is always a problem. Various types of paddock stands come handy when we think of solving the above problem. But even Paddock stands have their own limitations, they can provide you a firm base for your machine but moving the bike once it is mounted on the paddock is never easy. Most of the paddocks are unidirectional and one can move the bike in a single direction only once the stands are on. Now, the folks at Dynamoto have come up a very unique set of Paddock stands that can move multidirectional. These omnidirectional Paddock stands can virtually make your motorcycle move in 360 degree once mounted. The Australian company Dynamoto has used Rotacaster set of wheels on their stand, which are again a great invention by another Australian firm. These Rotacaster wheels are set of three free spinning wheel plates, which further have8 set of unique rollers made of tough polyurethane. These rollers along with the three plates allow the paddock to move in multidirection. Each Dynamoto stand comes with a set of three Rotacaster wheels ensuring the ease of movement. The company has three different stands to offer-

1. A rear wheel race stand for bikes featured with single sided swingarms.
2. Another rear stand for motorbikes with double sided swingarms.
3. A very simple front wheel paddock stand that simply skids in under the front tyre, so that you don't need anything on the front wheel to hang on.

However, it appears that the otherwise great looking stands would not be good for slanted floor since there is no provision given for locking the wheels. The stands look perfect and very impressive while using as it is being shown in the video.

The Dynamoto Stands are priced with a premium and it appears the company certainly wants to pitch their product in the market as a premium product. A set of Dynamoto stands will cost you around US$500, which is a tad more than what is available in the market from the reputed auto part makers.
