Tech Talk- Smart Windshield Concept by Samsung and Yamaha

  • May 9, 2016
  • |   Comments
We all know that how dangerous it could be attending phone call or navigating through our smart phones while riding, still it is not difficult to find people doing exactly same on road across the globe. The situation becomes worse when we talk about the same scenario here in India. Samsung and Yamaha have taken an initiative to find out the solution of this problem associated with the technological advancement.

Taking the findings of a study conducted on young commuters in Italy into account, the renowned electronic company Samsung in collaboration with Japanese auto giant Yamaha have undergone into development of a unique Smart Windshield concept. The screen mounted on the windshield will allow the rider to access the data shared from his Smart phone, displaying the information in a least distracting way.

The Smart Windshield concept includes a transparent screen which is mounted beneath the windshield and above the stock instrument console of the two-wheeler. The Smart screen gets wirelessly connected to the rider’s Smart phone and it displays various notifications taken from the phone. The positioning of the screen on the windshield allows the rider to access the phone data in such a way that it won’t distract him in a big way. Samsung is developing the Smart Windshield concept based on their global Launching People communication project and Yamaha is assisting them by providing ideal two-wheeler for ongoing R&D and it is none other than the Tilting “Tricity” scooter. Both the ergonomics of the Tricity and the customer base of it making it a perfect guinea pig for the project.

Although, both Samsung and Yamaha say that the concept is still in a developing stage and they have no immediate plan for commercializing it. And the Smart Windshield could be utilized to display further more information apart from only displaying limited notifications from the Smart phone. However, it is to be seen that how efficiently both the companies could manage to come out with a product developed for preventing the riders from distractions rather than distract them more. Please do share your opinion in the comment section below on the futuristic technology that is bound to strike us sooner than later.
