Kawasaki’s showstoppers for the EICMA 2016 event broke cover at Intermot, the replacements of the old Z800 and the ER-6N.
Kawasaki’s Z900 will replace the older Z800, partly because it couldn’t comply with the newer emission norms (Euro 4). The Z900 is an underbored variant of the drop-dead gorgeous Z1000 (948cc’s to be precise) and will produce 126 HP, with a Slip and assist clutch making life easier for your left hand. The old frame is ditched in favor of a new steel trellis frame, lowering the weight and seat height at the same time. The suspension also gets a revamp, with adjustable front forks and adjustable rear shocks available as standard. Braking duties are handled by Nissin’s 300mm dual discs up front, with its proprietary ABS system looking over your shoulder.
The old ER-6N, much like its faired brother (The ER-6F aka Ninja 650) is set for a massive revamp, including styling and the name. The Z650 has the same engine and internals as the new Ninja 650, but falls in line with the company’s Sugomi design language.
The Z650 will get a Bosch ABS unit instead of the Nissin one present on the 900. More details are to be disclosed at EICMA 2016.
