Is TVS Working On Two Variants Of The Upcoming Apache?

  • Dec 17, 2015
  • |   Comments
The next generation TVS Apache has got to be one of the talked about bikes of this year 2015, especially ever since TVS unveiled their Draken concept last year in the Auto Expo and further confirming this year that they will be launching the next generation TVS Apache (though it got postponed). The latest news comes from Indonesia, Iwanbanaran.com have recently got lots of spy-shots of the upcoming TVS Apache 200 which lets us have a clear look at what the upcoming TVS Apache 200 has got in store for us (though the bike has been camouflaged). What is interesting here is that they have caught the spy-shots of two bikes and both the bikes are a little different from each other, one has the single-piece handlebar and the other one has clip-ons. This makes us to suspect a little as to why TVS has been testing two variants and so we have come out with our own thoughts (Read, this is purely our suspicion). There could be three possible reasons according to us:

1. Either TVS is trying to see which of the two handlebars will be best suited for the bike.
2. Is it testing two models of TVS Apache 200? (most likely feeling).
3. Is one of the model a 180 and the other being a 200? (180 because as we all know TVS had shed little hints about their upcoming TVS Apache 200 which will be launched alongside an updated TVS Apache 180, both sharing a lot in design and parts). This theory though is unlikely to happen.

Iwanbanaran.com have also given us another hint that the TVS test riders have said that the motor is formulated for the speed freaks (well at least that is what Google translator says so). Now let us take a closer look at the spy-shots.

*** Two different handlebars

*** LED tail lamps

*** Single piston rear caliper as seen in the picture (petal disc brakes)

*** What looks like an oil-cooled cooling system

*** Naked headlamps

*** New crankcase and gear shift

*** Clip-on handlebar model

*** Single-piece handlebar model

IRC Winner tyres which is expected to be around 130/140 mm in diameter, but we expect it to get either Michelin or better TVS tyres here in India. The side-exhaust which reminds us of the TVS Velocity but looks different from it. Finally to put it altogether, the new TVS Apache 200 will most likely feature a oil-cooled engine and is expect to make a power of around 23 bhp. Design wise, it is definitely taking a lot of design cues from the Draken concept.
