Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda), fresh from his 50th win at Motegi sets himself on fourth, on the top of the second row. He will be Joined by Brit Cal Crutchlow (LCR Honda) and the rookie Maverick Vinales (Team Suzuki Ecstar) on the second row of the grid.
Championship Leader Valentino Rossi (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) focused on race setup in all the practice sessions, lapping consistently in the low and mid 1:29's which will be the race pace.
