MotoGP Round 17: Pedrosa Wins In Dominant Fashion!

Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda) clinches victory #51 in the scorching heat of Malaysia, in treacherous weather conditions with high temperatures and humidity. The 30 year old Spaniard was unfazed by the brilliant starts by the front row and led right from the start line. He didn't have to see another rider's rear wheel, thus ending the race in a dominant fashion, 3.6 seconds in-front of Jorge Lorenzo who finished second.

Jorge Lorenzo (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) had a troubled start from the second row of the grid. He was pushed back to fifth at one point by the two Ducati's, before pulling off a brilliant double overtake to get in front of the two Ducatis. Passing through Valentino Rossi and Marc Marquez was like a cakewalk for him. Lorenzo finished second, eight seconds in front of teammate and title rival Valentino Rossi.

Valentino Rossi and Marc Marquez, fresh from the verbal war on Thursday engaged in a perilous and insane battle for third place. The duo engaged in a fierce head-to-head with Rossi pushing harder than ever to beat his bitter rival, almost losing his front on lap six.

The real drama began at turn 14 of lap 7, where Rossi tried to push Marquez wide to break his momentum coming onto the back-straight, ending in a collision and Marquez low-siding and crashing out. A Livid Marquez and his crew appealed to race direction, and the decision will be updated soon.

Update: Valentino Rossi gets three penalty points and will start from the back of the grid in Valencia.

Valentino Rossi finished third, eight seconds behind Lorenzo and 10.381 seconds in front of Monster Yamaha Tech3's Bradley Smith.

Stay tuned as BI will publish a detailed race report and an update on the crash. Share the article with the hashtag #SepangClash.
