After the picture perfect finish at Assen two weeks ago, Marc Marquez gained his lost form at the German GP, by setting a blistering 1:20.336 lap around the Sachsenring to start the race from pole position. The 22 year old Spaniard dominated all the practice sessions, right from Friday morning, the 2014 chassis offering him the confidence he lost due to back to back crashes in Argentina, Jerez and Mugello.
It's double delight for the Repsol Honda team, as Dani Pedrosa starts from second place alongside Marc Marquez, Clocking a 1:20.628 and briefly held the top spot before Marc set the Record lap.
After a bad weekend at Assen, Jorge Lorenzo is working hard to fight back and get closer to the championship lead. The Mallorcan will start from third place, behind the two Repsol Hondas.
But the surprise of the week is Yonny Hernandez, The Columbian starting in fifth place ahead of Valentino Rossi who will start in sixth place in today's race. The Columbian had to qualify in Q1 before entering Q2, and he did his job brilliantly.
It was a mixed bag for the Factory Ducati team, as Andrea Iannone Qualified in fourth and Andrea Dovizioso qualifying in 11th place. The Ducatis ran with a new pair of winglets, which improved the front end stability of the Desmosedici GP15 at this tight circuit.
The shortest (2.2 miles) and most demanding circuit (10 left and 3 right turns with a 800m straight), sachsenring is the most Crucial MotoGP weekend on the calendar. This weekend marks the halfway stage of the MotoGP season, where teams have a one month summer break. 30 Laps of the epic showdown starts at 17:30 IST on Ten sports and tensports.com
