The first ever victory of Nick Hayden in the WSBK championship also brought back success to the Honda after two years. Earlier in year 2014 it was Jonathan Rea who brought this honor to the Japanese automaker. The Malaysian round witnessed heavy rainfall forcing all the riders from both the categories to use Pirelli DIABLOâ„¢ Rain tyres.
In the race finale, the Italian rider Giugliano, who was at the second position, launched an attack on Hayden and closing the gap to just one second. However, the pace from Kentucky Kid was unwavering as he managed the advantage, winning his first ever WorldSBK race ahead of the Roman's Ducati and Rea's Kawasaki who stood third at podium.
