Scooters are raining in Indian two wheeler market, isn't it? So, coming to the news, Hero Dash has been spied in two variants- LX and VX, to compete with Honda Activa, TVS Jupiter, Mahindra Gusto, Suzuki Lets and Yamaha Alpha. LX will be the low end variant and will feature dual tone body colour theme along with steel wheels whereas VX will feature grey coloured silencer cover, black alloy wheels, dual colour caps for rear view mirror, mobile charging points etc.
According to source, the production codename of Hero Dash is ''AAWA'' and the name Hero Dash which was a prototype scooter showcased in Delhi Auto Expo 2014 could be changed and named as either Duet or Specter. Hero may target male consumers because Hero Dash is believed to have masculine design. Some of the features of Hero Dash/Duet/ Specter or whatever Hero would love to name it, are LCD display with analog speedometer, lockable storage at front and Integrated Braking System (IBS) which is nothing new but Combi Braking System which we have seen in Activa and other scooters as well.
The scooter will lack disc brakes even as option but it will feature telescopic fork in front with both tyres tubeless (90/90-12 at front and 90/90-10 at rear), it will feature external fuel cap to avoid the hassle of opening the seats whenever you go for refueling.Hero dash will be powered by a 111 cc single cylinder, air cooled engine which will produce 8.56 PS @7,500 rpm and 9.4 nm @5,750 rpm of torque ( The power is 0.56 ps more than Activa, Jupiter and 0.36 Ps more than it's own sibling Maestro). It could be able to achieve a top speed of 80+ kmph with the help of good power and torque offered by Hero. The price of Hero Dash is still unknown but that's sure it will be priced competitively by Hero to compete against strong rivals.
