United Motorcycles Global showcased their range of motorcycles in India last year at the Auto Expo 2014. The latest news is that UM will be starting its operations here in India soon with the launch of the UM Renegade Sport S which will be the company's first launch here in India as per UM.
The UM Renegade Sport S was recently unveiled at the 2015 EICMA show. UM officially confirmed that they will be launching the Renegade Sport S in India in a few months' time via twitter while answering to some of the questions of some fans. UM has set up a manufacturing facility in India in collaboration with Lohia Auto. UM also confirmed that they are setting up dealerships in metro cities in India which will be followed by dealerships in other smaller cities. UM will be making their official debut at the upcoming Auto Expo in February 2016 and soon will be commencing operations after that.
Coming to the Renegade Sport S, the bike resembles somewhat to the Suzuki Intruder. The engine is powered by a 279cc fuel injected water-cooled engine that produces a maximum power of 26.6 PS and a maximum torque of 22.76 Nm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The suspension duties on the bike are handled by telescopic shocks at the front while the rear gets twin shocks. The braking duties are taken care by disc brake at the front and drum brake at the rear.
Regarding pricing, the bike is expected to be priced anywhere between Rs 1.2 to 2 lakhs and delivery commencing after taking three months of advance booking. Once launched, the bike will be a tough competition to Honda CBR250R, Mahindra Mojo, Royal Enfield and the Bajaj Avengers.By: Rakesh Gowda
