Yamaha To Launch New 125cc Scooter On May 7th

  • |   Comments
For all the scooter lovers out there, mark the date and day of 7th May '15 as Yamaha is going to be launching a new scooter in the India market. Reports say that this scooter is going to be a 125cc offering and it is going to be a rather luxurious one. After all the hoopla in the 100cc segment, the scooter market also seems to be going into a more powerful and high displacement scenario. It was all started by the Suzuki Access, Honda Activa 125 and now even Yamaha is looking to get a piece of the pie. We still do not have a name for the scooter that is going to be launched and neither do we have any reports on the power figures or the looks either, however a closeup shot of scooter's front grill is being circulated by Yamaha. But recently Yamaha had been spied testing the Yamaha Nozza Grande 125 which has been launched in Vietnam or a similar look alike which might be Indianized for our roads and audiences. The internal company code-name for the scooter is 04X and expect the power figures of the 125cc mill to be around the 10 Ps and 10 Nm range. Being a premium offering (if considered to the Nova Grande), the scooter is sure to come with some cool premium features like Fuel Injection, Telescopic Forks, Disk brakes and Tubeless Tires. Though we are doubtful Yamaha might skip the fuel injection to keep the costs down, but maybe they might use the Blue Core Technology and get the low cost FI system in the system. The transmission duties should be performed by the CVT transmission.

The flourishing scooter market in India has become quite a playing ground for many players and no segment is free from competition. The new Yamaha offering will be going on against the Honda Activa 125, The Mahindra Gusto 125 and the Suzuki brothers, the Access and the Swish. Not to forget the Premium Vespa range from Piaggio.

Stay tuned as we will bring you all updates on Yamaha's latest entrant.
