Yamaha has unveiled their adventure tourer- Tracer 700 based on MT-07 in international market. Yamaha was testing the machine for quite sometimes now and the bike was first spotted while testing on road last year. However, opposite to the expectation Yamaha has christened the new adventure bike as ‘Tracer 700’ and not MT-07 Tracer. The new Tracer 700 is based on MT-07 hence using same Tubular backbone frame with aluminum swinging arm. The bike is equipped with 689cc parallel twin liquid cooled engine, capable of churning out 75 Bhp of power and 68 Nm of torque. The engine design based on cross-plane philosophy of Yamaha is known for its great fuel efficiency.
The new Yamaha Tracer 700 is featured with 50mm longer swingarm than the MT-07, which gives it a longer wheelbase of 1450mm. The company claimed that they have revised the suspension setup and now the suspensions have been revised for long-distance travel. The fuel capacity is also increased from Mt-07’s 14 to 17 liters. The bike is also featured with adjustable windscreen coupled with hand-guards for extra protection.
In a growing market for adventure touring machines, India has a good chance to see this frugal yet very capable motorbike in near future. Once launched in India it will compete with the likes of Kawasaki Versys 650.
