Why Basic Motorcycle Riding Gear Is All We Need

I am really not the guy who should stand on a pedestal and complain about the lack of motorcycle safety gear. I do advocate for motorcycle safety but I am particular about wearing safety gear, besides shoes, helmets and gloves. I myself have ridden bikes without any safety gear and sometimes even my helmet. But it was because I had to go nearby to get vegetables and not on a cross-country tour to conquer the Himalayas. Still, today I am going to advocate heavily about basic safety gear. Here’s why-

All About Protection-

As the safety gears’ will lead you to believe, it’s function is not just limited to keeping you safe .from fall damage. The gear also does a far better job at protecting from Sun, dirt, and even tiny pebbles, than your normal clothing. Especially in the rain, the gear is very useful, because any half-decent riding jacket is at least water resistant. Feeling raindrops splashing on your chest while you’re riding at 100 km/h is not a pleasant experience.

Looks Better-

Riding with even the basic gear fills you up with confidence. The feeling of being protected keeps your mind at ease so it can act better in an emergency situation. The same confidence also makes you feel better about yourself, in turn, you will enjoy your ride more.

Not As Expensive-

Gone are the days when motorcycle riding gear used to cost lungs and kidneys. In today’s world, you can get equipped with a pretty decent kit in under Rs 10,000, excluding the helmet. It would be enough to get you started. With proper riding gear you’re also geared up for every season, as its just a matter of wearing a few layers less or a few more underneath it, depending upon the season.

Not As Uncomfortable-

Motorcycle Riding Gear has come a long way and in some cases is even a fashion at this point. There are summer riding jackets, all-weather riding jackets and even riding jeans with padded protection. Whatever you’re looking for, chances are that it's already there.

Please note that I am not recommending you to wear gear every time you visit your mall for a pizza. Wearing helmets and shoes is fine for the most part. But for those long hauls, have a decent set of gear at your side.
