Breaking News: Triumph Motorcycles India Selling DETUNED Models, Confirmed

  • Nov 26, 2014
  • |   Comments
It was a hot topic among the superbike lovers of India as recently rumors about the detuned versions of Triumph Motorcycles sold in India were rampant. BikesIndia has also published a story about the same recently, however earlier it was clear by the official Indian website of Triumph Motorcycles which they have recently updated that indeed their bikes available in India are the detuned models as compare to the their models sold in UK as per it is mentioned in the respective websites. But it was never highlighted by the Triumph Motorcycles India that they are actually selling detuned versions of their international motorcycle models in India. In fact the official Triumph website of India used to showcase the European Specifications of the bikes from very beginning it was up till now when they have updated their website with the detuned specifications recently.

Triumph Street Triple Technical Specs At Indian Triumph Website

In fact it was recently got attention of some of the bike enthusiast of country that the Technical specifications of the Indian Triumph bike models mentioned in the official Triumph website of the country is different from those of UKs website. We also took a look of the matter and prima facie it looked like either there must be some misprinting or the misinterpreting happened at the Triumph Motorcycles India's end and we had also mentioned this in our earlier published News article "Do We Really Have Detuned Triumph Motorcycles In India Or Its Just A Misprinting" giving benefit of doubt to the company as even for us this fact was hard to swallow, as there is nothing seems logical for Triumph to do that and moreover there was neither any concrete evidence against them nor they came up with any official clarification against the allegations or we should say confusion created.

Triumph Street Triple Technical Specs At European Triumph Website

BikesIndia had taken the task in their hands to investigate the truth of the story, after extensive research we found some shocking evidence which actually proves that Triumph Motorcycles had in fact came to India with their detuned motorcycle models from very beginning, they have actually got tested their models at the ARAI for the approval was all detuned ones as compare to their claimed UK spec models which they highlight. If that was the case than the million dollar question arises that why they have not mentioned the known detuned figures on the website? and why on the contrary they have showcased the European specs instead. This further led to misguiding the customers at the dealers end as the dealers also mentioning the same European specs with assertion without explaining the possibility of discrepancy in the technical specification.

The Street Triple model of Triumph is the one which has suffered from this detuning process the most. The UK model of Street Triple features with the 105 Bhp of Power figure while the same model sold in India has Power output of 77.9 Bhp which is actually a difference of more than 27 Bhps. There are other models also which suffers more or less same from the alleged detuning process. http://www.bikesindia.org/uploads/image/news/2014/nov/speed-triple-arai.jpg Now, a question that arises is whether Triumph had done the same deliberately? if yes, then what was the motive behind this? As of now Triumph Motorcyces India has not come up with any kind of clarification which further intensify the sentiments of the Triumph motorcycle owners who have felt like being cheated. Whatever the case may be, it would have been better if Triumph mentioned the actual performance figures at their Indian website from day one and also highlighted the same at their dealers' end including through their marketing campaign.

At least now we expect Triumph Motorcycles India to step forward and clear some air from this matter so that those who are proud owners of Triumph Motorcycles should remain proud and those who are aspirants of these majestic bikes should feel confidant about their purchase.

However it is not all that seems going against the Triumph, we could get something logical from company to get our souls satisfied. As the discrepancy in the tech specs of the bikes could be genuine and can be understandable also and we really would like to know the truth whatever it may be. Hoping for a quick official statement from Triumph Motorcycles India on behalf of all motorcycle enthusiast and specially the Triumph owners of our country.
