Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd (SMPIL) has taken a very important step and commenced the assembly of their flagship product- Hayabusa GSX 1300R in India. The super sportbike has been imported from Japan to India till date as CBU (Completely Build Unit), which used to incur additional import duties, subsequently paid by the end user. Now, the SMPIL will assemble the mighty Busa in their existing manufacturing facility at Gurgaon, Haryana. The Hayabusa will now be assembled at the same assembly line used for the current product lineup of Suzuki in India. Suzuki will now only import the parts of the motorcycle from the various sources as CKD (Completely Knocked Down) unit and will assemble them at their Indian facility. This certainly brings down the manufacturing cost of the bike which will finally pass on to the customers. The specifications of the mighty Hayabusa will remain same along with the quality standards, the impact of the decision is absolutely ecstatic for the purists as the ultimate price of the world renowned Hayabusa in now come down to INR 1,357,135 (Ex-showroom, Delhi) from the previous price of its imported counterpart which used to sell at a price tag of Rs 16 Lacs in India.
Kenji Hirozawa, Vice President Sales & Marketing, SMIPL, said, India is one of the largest manufacturers of motorcycles in the world. This is a clear indication of the high demands in this ever growing market. Along with growth, comes maturity. Coupled with growth in lifestyle and infrastructure, there is an increasing demand for Big Bikes by the Indian Enthusiast. SMIPL shall cater to this by starting assembly of our most widely selling big bike, the Suzuki Hayabusa. We firmly believe in the Make in India program and this is another step to show our support even in the big bike market.
