Yamaha Imports YZF-R3 In India For R&D, Are We Going To Get Both R25 and R3?

  • Jan 15, 2015
  • |   Comments
Yamaha has re-entered the Indian market back in 2008, with the FZ-16 and the YZF-R15, both being premium 150cc motorcycles. Though both of them received timely and successful facelifts, the lack of a motorcycle which slots between the R15 and the R6 is clearly evident in Yamaha's portfolio.

Yamaha, after fooling and making purists wait for a long time, unveiled the R25 for the Indonesian and Malaysian market and the R3 in the US later year. But India Yamaha Motor remained tight lipped on which version India will get in the future and it was speculated that we are going to get R25.

An interesting entry in the website Zauba.com, which shows two YZF-R3s have been imported to India, instead of the R25 which was expected before. The R25 is powered by the 249cc parallel twin engine which produces 35.5Ps of power at 12000 Rpm, where as the R3 has a 321cc parallel twin engine producing 41.4Bhp. The R3 comes with ABS as standard. The import value is scaled at 188,107 INR, and we can expect the R3 to be priced at Rs 2.75 lakh Ex- showroom. The official unveiling of the bike is expected by the Q2 2015.
