After huge success of Pulsar NS200 Bajaj introduces a stripped down version of the motorcycle in the form of Pulsar NS 160. The younger sibling of the highly acclaimed Pulsar NS 200 carries the legacy right from the styling to the performance; let’s have a quick overview of the bike.
Looks and Design: On the grounds of design the Pulsar NS 160 looks absolutely similar to its elder sibling, except few underpinnings like skinny telescopic front suspension, Swingarm and smaller profile tyres the bike looks strikingly similar to Pulsar NS200. The company has decided to bet on the tried and tested design of ‘Edgar Heinrich’ and continued with the wolf eyed styling of the motorcycle.
The bike can be distinguished from the rear as the skinny rear tyre with 110/80-17 57P dimension, LS135 like tail tidy and smaller Swingarm point out towards the stripped down version of NS. The smaller capacity oil cooled engine also indicates towards the same.
Engine and Performance: The Pulsar NS 160 comes equipped with new 160.3cc oil cooled engine; the mill is mated to 5 speed transmission gear. The oil cooled engine is capable of producing peak power of 15.5 PS @8500 rpm and max torque of 14.6 Nm at 6500 Rpm. The performance figure of the bike makes the NS 160 stand among top performing bikes in the segment. The Pulsar 160 NS comes devoid of Electronic Fuel Injection System (EFI) and the bike comes in only one variant i.e. Carbureted.
Brakes, Chassis and Suspension: The Pulsar NS 160 is featured with same rigid Perimeter frame as NS200 and it is suspended with front telescopic suspension with anti friction bush for better performance and a Nitrox charged Mono suspension at rear. The bike comes shod with MRF Zapper tubeless tyres with 80/100-17 46P and 110/80-17 57P profile at front and rear wheels respectively. Braking duties have been performed by front 240mm disc brake and 130mm drum brake at the rear.
