Single Cylinder 250cc Hyosung GD 250R Spotted- Launch Eminent

The much awaited Hyosung GD 250R from DSK Hyosung has been spotted on Indian roads. Luckily, it wasn`t camouflaged to the brink, making it easier to get recognized. The faired GD250R will come with a single cylinder 249cc, 4 valve DOHC, liquid-cooled engine. May be it's time for the Honda CBR 250R to look up !

Things get pretty interesting when the GD 250R is compared to the V-twin sibling GT 250R. While the GT 250R weighs 188 kg, the GD 250R weighs around 155 kg. Though, despite being a single cylinder bike it makes a little more 28 PS of power than the V-twin GT and even produces more torque from the single cylinder engine– 24Nm. Combine this with the lesser weight and you have a much better power to weight ratio, which in turn translates to better performance, better mileage, better braking and improved dynamics. Design wise, it features twin headlamps at the front which are a little reminiscent of the erstwhile Triumph Daytona 675, upside down forks, underbelly exhaust for mass centralization (unlike the GT250R) and petal disc brakes. The bike will sport an all digital instrument console with the added feature of a gear shift indicator and a digital clock.

The light weight trellis frame showing beneath the fairing is visually appealing, almost like the KTM RC8. The fairing compliments the sharp looks of the motorcycle perfectly. It features a beautiful mono-shock offset to the right, like most models of Benelli motorcycles. We hope other motorcycle manufacturers will follow suit with their offerings and spice up the competition !

This bike should save the day for DSK Hyosung, which is currently struggling as a motorcycle manufacturer due to it`s high priced models. Which one is likely to launch soon, GD 250N or GD 250R, only time will tell. Picture Source: BikeAdvice
