Yamaha India Slashes Out Five Motorcycles

  • Aug 26, 2015
  • |   Comments
Yamaha India has slashed out five models out of its motorcycle lineup. The models discontinued are SS 125, SZ-R, YBR 110, YBR 125 and SZ-S. Yamaha has launched the new YZF R3 to take over the quarter litre segment in India this month itself. While Yamaha, has even revised their scooter range with new engine to achieve better fuel efficiency under the name of blue-core technology.

The five models which are now taken off the assembly line have a proper successor to them, so Yamaha here took a good decision of discontinuing the age-old models to be focused on the new ones. This slash out can either be referred to as an replacement, as Yamaha has already launched the version 2 of the "SZ" series with better graphics and blue-core technology. While the Saluto is what that would take up on the market share of the SS125, YBR125 and YBR110. The Saluto is a bike that offers the fuel economy of the YBR110 and has the power and punch of the SS125/YBR125.

Though slashing out 5 models out of the line-up is really big when it comes to losing out the market share, but what our calculations speak out is different. We expect that this way Yamaha will be able to focus on the newer and better models to be made available to the Indian consumer. So now Yamaha have a better substitute to the bikes they have stopped producing now.

Yamaha is expected to launch a new R15 at the upcoming Auto Expo as the sources have revealed that they are working on it. Yes Yamaha, we indeed waiting for a next generation R15.
