Yamaha is finally all set to launch its twin cylinder 250cc R25 in India, but before you start rejoicing let us inform you that it will still take 8-10 months time. Yamaha has already launched the R25 in Indonesia and they have got tremendous response by the Yamaha fans, as per a report the response to the R25 in Indonesia is so intense that Yamaha had to cut down the exports to fulfill the demand. Yamaha has plonked newly developed 249cc twin cylinder engine in the R25 which is capable of producing 36 Ps of power and 22.6 Nm of torque. Recently Yamaha has also unveiled another sportbike the R3 based on the same platform of R25, the R3 bears 321cc twin cylinder engine producing 42 Ps of power and 29.6 Nm of torque. However Yamaha has kept the R3 exclusive for the developed markets and hence despite of all speculations it is difficult for us to have it here in near future.
Along with the success of R25 in Indonesian market, Yamaha was being criticized for not featuring ABS on board, now Yamaha has announced that they will put ABS on R25 from early next year in Indonesian market. This directly means that we will get R25 with ABS when it comes to India. The R25 will lock horns with Kawasaki Ninja 300, KTM RC390 and upcoming Honda CBR 300R. The expected price of Yamaha R25 is Rs 3.0 Lacs and it will come via CKD route to our shores.
