Comparison- Hero Maestro Edge Vs Yamaha Fascino Vs TVS Jupiter

  • Oct 30, 2015
  • |   Comments
Today we will compare three scooters available in market based on features, mileage, price and performance. The three scooters has already been reviewed by BikesIndia, so the scooters are newly launched Hero Maestro edge, Yamaha Fascino and TVS Jupiter. If you are confused which one to buy among these three, let us make it a bit easier.

Hero Maestro Edge Hero has come up with Maestro Edge which looks more bold, stylish and features loaded than Hero Maestro. The look of this scooter is very appealing, it has big round speedometer, big headlight, sharp design all over the body which helps it to look updated. It has features like USB charging under the sear, built in immobilizer (only VX variant), luggage hooks even in rear but as an option in LX variant, 12 inch front wheel with MRF Nylogrip tubeless tyres has nice feedback on almost every surface, what it misses is the front disc brake, at least Hero could have offered it in the premium Variant but it has been offered with integrated braking which is better known as CBS (Combined Braking System) in scooters from Honda's stable.

The engine on Maestro Edge has been developed by Hero indigenously. Hero has tested their engine for the very first time. Maestro Edge is powered by 110.9cc air cooled, OHC 4-stroke engine which develops power of 8.4 PS @8000 rpm and a torque of 8.3 Nm @6500 rpm, which is decent enough for the competition.

Price and Mileage:

It is claimed to have a fuel efficiency of 65.8 kmpl which is just 0.2 lesser than Yamaha Fascino.

Hero has priced their newly designed scooter with an all new engine at INR 49500 (ex-showroom Delhi) for the base variant.

Yamaha Fascino This scooter gained a lot of applause for the design and looks. The retro looks which this scooter offers, instantly made people fell in love with this scooter. This scooter has attracted new generation people who love something unique. It has a very nice fit and finish with chrome doing its job very well. So, is it only the looks which is offered by Yamaha? No, it is loaded with features and power to take on the competition.

Fascino has got a lot of storage under the seat, it has 21 liters is storage which can hold a full face helmet easily, it has blue core technology which helps in achieving better mileage and power figures. It weighs only 103 kgs which makes it very light and nimble, Yamaha fascino is very comfortable to ride and has decent brakes to stop in dry as well as in wet conditions. This scooter looks different from the scooters in its segment, if you want to look different from the crowd this scooter is the way to go.

Yamaha Fascino is powered by a 113cc 4-stroke air-cooled engine which produces a power of 7.1 PS@7500 rpm and torque of 8.1 NM@5000 rpm. The power is bit less compared to TVS Jupiter and Maestro Edge but that's not a deal breaker.

Price and Mileage:

Yamaha Fascino is claimed to return a mileage of 66 kmpl which is best in class. The Fascinating Fascino is priced at INR 52500 (Ex-showroom).

TVS Jupiter This is the scooter which is giving a tough competition to every scooter in the market, it denies to leave its territory. This scooter has got everything bold and muscular looks, its comfortable and is blessed with decent power figures. TVS Jupiter is a big scooter which is preferred by male. TVS Jupiter has written its own success story and it can be well understood as TVS has sold 5 lac units of Jupiter.

It has got features like pass light (first in the segment, now also present in Maestro Edge), 12-inch alloy wheels, gas-charged rear suspension, telescopic front forks, it has ample of leg room space and an under seat storage of 17 litres, it has V-Matic transmission and an econometer which tells you whether you are riding in eco mode or power mode which helps you to get better mileage. It has drum brakes in front and rear which has enough bite to stop the scooter. It weighs 108 kgs which is 5 kgs more than Yamaha Fascino.

Price and Mileage:

TVS claims that Jupiter will give you a mileage of 62 kmpl which is lesser than the scooters in this comparison but in our long term review it returned an overall mileage of 50kmpl which is impressive.

TVS Jupiter is priced at INR 46,925 - 48,925 (Ex-showroom).

Our Impression
Hero Maestro Edge-

Very nice overall package but has to prove itself in this tough scooter market. Although, the Hero's newly developed engine has to prove itself but in our road test review, it impressed us.

Yamaha Fascino-

Very good retro looks, if you want to grab a lot of eyeballs and want to stand out in the crowd Yamaha Fascino is for you. It is loaded with nice features, good looks and ample storage.

TVS Jupiter-

This scooter is an overall very good package and has proven itself. Its like a perfect family scooter, whether you go to office or your wife goes to market, it suits everyone with its bold looks. You can go for this scooter with your eyes closed .
