New Hero Splendor iSmart 110- Overview

  • Jul 16, 2016
  • |   Comments
Hero MotoCorp has developed their first indigenously built 110cc motorcycle engine and they have come up with an updated Splendor iSmart 110. The new iSmart is based on the popular Splendor platform and carries the same i3S (Idle Start Stop System) technology. However, Hero has updated the older version of Splendor iSmart not only with the brand new engine but also with other added features; let’s have an overview of the newly launched iSmart 110.

Style & Design: The new Splendor iSmart 110 continues with the style quotient of the previous generation iSmart, one can easily identify the iSmart with its unique dual tone color and different graphics. However, the latest iSmart 110 now comes equipped with new trapezoidal headlight assembly. The Automatic Headlamp On (AHO) feature which is industry first is also given on the new iSmart.

Body colored rearview mirrors and pin stripped black alloy wheels are also added to the new entrant to give it a distinct look. Sleek tail light assembly gives a more sharp and modern appearance to the new Splendor iSmart 110.

Engine & Performance: Hero has developed brand new 110cc air cooled OHC engine, this engine has been designed & developed by the home team of the company and it is their first ever engine made for any motorcycle indigenously. Hero has previously introduced Maestro Edge with their first ever CVT engine developed at their local facility without any technical support of the erstwhile partner Honda.

The new 110cc vertical engine is capable to produce 9.1 PS of power at 7500 rpm and 9.0 Nm of torque at 5500 rpm. The new OHC engine is mated to 4 speed transmission and with the help of revolutionary i3S technology the bike is expected to return fuel efficiency of 68 kmpl, which is lesser than what the previous gen iSmart returns. The i3S (Idle Start Stop System) technology helps in extracting maximum mileage from the motorcycle and it is especially helpful during stop and go traffic conditions. The system shuts off the engine while idling and it brings back to life as soon as the clutch is depressed again. This way the engine saves precious fuel which otherwise would have been wasted and helps achieving better fuel efficiency.

Instrument Console: The new Hero Splendor iSmart 110 comes featured with all new meter console which is part analog part digital opposite to the all analog display unit of the previous generation iSmart. A round Speedometer sits right in the center featuring side stand warning light and neutral indicator. The small digital display at the right side featured with Odometer and Trip meter, whereas the analog fuel gauge situates at the left side of the console.

Brakes & Tyres: The new iSmart comes equipped with drum brakes at both the wheels and there is no option for the disc brake. There is bigger 130mm drum brake is featured on the front wheel, whereas at the rear wheel 110mm drum brake does the stopping duty. The motorbike is suspended on front telescopic suspensions and dual spring loaded shock absorbers at rear.

The iSmart 110 comes shod with both tube type and tubeless tyre options. While as tube type tyre
2.75 x 18-4 PR and 2.75 X 18-6 PR are the specs, the tubeless tyres come in 80/100-47 P and 80/100-54P specifications.

Price & Colors:

The Splendor iSmart 110 is available in four colors- Blue-black, Red-black, Silver-black and Sports-red. Hero MotoCorp has priced the new iSmart at Rs 53,300 (Ex-showroom, Delhi). Stay tuned to BikesIndia as we will bring you the Test Ride Review of the new iSmart 110 soon.
