New 2015 Bajaj Avenger Cruise- Overview

  • Oct 28, 2015
  • |   Comments
It has been more than a decade when Bajaj in collaboration with Kawasaki had brought “Kawasaki Eliminator” to India. The Eliminator was probably the first affordable true cruiser of its time launched in India followed by “Yamaha Enticer”. The brilliant product of its time was soon adapted by its Indian partner and launched as “Avenger” in 2007 with the 200cc Dtsi engine shared from the Pulsar series of motorbikes. The Avenger remains same for all those years except for the time to time engine updations it received; the Avenger 220 launched in 2010 with the 220cc oil-cooled engine of Pulsar 220F.

The success of the brand Avenger can be understood by the limited alterations it received over the period of time, it was liked by many in its original attire and that carried for a very long time until the Avenger received major changes not only on the engine platform but also on its overall character. Bajaj recently introduced new Avenger in three variants- Avenger Cruise, Avenger Street 220 and Avenger Street 150. Out of the three the Avenger Cruise is essentially the good old Avenger with updates received on the forefront of the styling, branding and the ergonomics.

Design & Features: The new Avenger Cruise shares the same underpinnings with fresh decals and new good quality paint job. There is loads of chrome used all over the bike, including the chrome finish oil-cooler cover. Bajaj has lent the attention on the minute detailing of the bike, which can be seen on the improved fit and finish of the new Avenger Cruise.

For the first time in the life span of Avenger the Exhaust is been changed, now there is stubby and rounded exhaust canister featured on the bike in place of the previously used edgy can. The new Exhaust comes in all chrome finish including the exhaust pipe and the Canister. Bajaj has introduced new bigger handle bar on the new Avenger Cruise, which provides more authentic cruiser look to the bike and changes the ergonomics of the bike considerably. Along with new handlebar the Cruise also featured with new mirror handle design and aesthetic bracket mount for the large windshield which comes optional with the Cruise. The new Avenger Cruise also comes featured with new backrest mounted on the refreshed chrome finished side brackets. There is new logo of the Avenger is also prominently placed at the rear plate of the backrest of the Avenger Cruise.

Meter Console: There is all new solo meter console featured on the Avenger Cruise with chrome finish, the meter is combination of analog-digital. A very beautiful looking instrument console is made of top quality; on the Cruise the digital meter has blue backlit with odometer and a trip meter.

The console fitted on the fuel tank is all chrome and featured with fuel lid, fuel gauge and tell tale lights

Engine & Transmission: The new Avenger Cruise is equipped with same 220cc oil cooled Dtsi engine producing 19 Ps of Power at 8400 Rpm and 17.5 Nm of Torque at 7000 Rpm. The engine is mated to 5 speed gear transmission and the power transmitted to the rear wheel through chain drive. The engine is featured with 2 valves and 2 sparkplugs Dtsi setup, the cranking of the engine is done through electric motor only and the engine is devoid of the kick starter.

Wheels & Brakes: Maintaining the true cruiser style, the Avenger Cruise comes with wire spoke wheels and the tyre size remains 90/90- 17 for front and 130/90- 15 for rear wheel. The bike comes with MRF Nylogrip Zapper tyres and it has been suspended on the front Telescopic forks and rear hydraulic spring loaded suspension. The braking duty is been done by the 260mm front single disc brakes from Bybre and 130mm drum brakes at the rear.

Based on the given features on the new Avenger Cruise we are sure that the ride of the bike must have been altered in a considerable way. Stay tuned as we will bring you the Test Ride Review of the new Avenger Cruise as soon as we get a chance to throw our leg over the bike.
