To all of our surprise, KTM threw a bombshell by launching the all new Duke 250 in India. Though the previous generation styled Duke 250 was built and exported to European countries till 2016, Indian launch was highly unlikely considering that the Duke 200 was already on sale. What KTM did was pure genius, as they launched the Duke 250 which is a slight downgrade from the 390 in terms of power, and a big upgrade from the 200 mechanically and aesthetically.
The Duke 390 and the RC 390 have set a benchmark in the market, for its killer pricing, features, power and ride quality. Seeing the astounding response from the crowd, KTM wanted to give the RC 200 and the RC 390 some changes, which will be the most awaited joy for the RC lovers and fanboys. Even though the RC 200 hasn’t received any major updates, KTM has flooded the new RC 390 with various new goodies. Let’s find out what KTM have given on their new RC 390.
We Indians have always got his nagging thing in the head to compare a motorcycle to any other one. Be it RD 350 vs. KTM Duke 390, Himalayan vs. the Impulse, Kawasaki Ninja H2 vs. the H2R and the list is literally, endless. But what do you get out of these comparisons and questions, especially if you don’t intend to buy either of the motorcycles? Does it solve the problems caused by an opened Pandora’s box? Actually, I think these ‘tests’ give rise to some more questions and doubts which ultimately play with our little, primitive minds, similar to how a little girl plays and throws around an old doll she doesn’t like anymore.
We all saw how KTM India swallowed a big chunk of the premium motorcycle market in India when it launched the Ktm Duke 390 in 2013. Not only did it rest it's case there, KTM India went on to make major upgrades on its 2014, 2015 and 2016 models which actually did make a hell lot of difference.
KTM had showcased the updated 2016 RC 390 at the recently concluded EICMA motor show, Milan. Apparently the new KTM model has received some serious changes, the updates given to the new RC 390 is not restricted to the sheer cosmetic changes what we normally see the other manufacturers do. Let’s check it out what Ktm has to offer in their updated RC 390.
Even though it's the front tyre, it's way too costlier than other tyres, in fact you can get a good rear tyre for the price of the front Metzeler. So here we go, let's start with the list of the tyre options for the Duke/RC 390 depending on the usage.
Not everyone can keep going for the same tyre every time and also these tyres are simply not necessary for our daily use, though they are the best one can get if they are a track racer. But it's there after hearing the price of the tyres you realise that the tyres cost you a bomb, which is like nearly 10% of the bike's overall cost.

Gearbox technologies have developed in motorcycles since quite some time and today there are two widely used gearboxes in motorcycles and that is Constant Mesh type gearbox and Claw Shifted gearbox. In a constant mesh gearbox, the gear claws are all arranged on a single file but the order is jumbled up. So for instance the first gear is located at the far end next to the sixth gear and the third gear after that and so on.
