TVS Apache RTR 160 Long Term Ownership Review By Sabi
Hello friends, I am Sabi from New Delhi and here is my long-term ownership review of Apache RTR 160 aka “Beast” post 12,500 kms. I had purchased the Apache back in September 2014 after selling my 3 years old Bajaj Discover 100cc.

We all must have heard terms like shorter gearing and taller gearing. It is all nothing really to do with the height of the gears but it is all about the gear ratios of the bike. The best example here to compare and check are the 200cc twins; the Bajaj Pulsar 200NS and the KTM Duke 200. The former is a taller geared bike while the later is a shorter geared bike.
I was about to buy R15 and Suzuki launched GIXXER SF the bike was not appealing to me when I saw pictures on internet one day I saw blue Gixxer SF on street and it was a turning point of my consideration.
But when I saw the figures and specifications it was disappointing for me. I decided to take it for a test ride and that bike won my heart.
The road traffic has always been a menace in our country, and in case of motorcycles we have always been seeing accidents north of 1,35,000 every year. And the misery further grows when it takes the government to being in reforms and mandate things because we ourselves do not demand it from the manufacturers.
Riding at night has its own share of headaches. For starters there are the erratic truck drivers who think the whole road is their property to drive as rash as possible. Add to that the bad plight of our Indian roads making it difficult to spot the potholes and bumps in the darkness of the night.
We are coming up with a new article series. It is about the men who achieved something great and extraordinary, they changed the face of the motorsports. With their achievements they wrote their name in history and became legends. But before we could go ahead we remember the people who lost their lives. Doing what they loved, until the last breath.
I am a proud owner of Suzuki Gixxer from last October, the bike is an excellent piece of engineering crafted beautifully by the Japanese engineers and my decision to take Suzuki Gixxer was worthy. It’s the most awarded bike in 2014 and feels proud to say that I too voted for my bike.
There are advantages of both types of wheelbases, long as well as short. Just that depends on the type of use. When the wheelbase on the bike is long, the bike has better on road stability. The same is inverse in case of bikes with a shorter wheelbase; the bike can be easily maneuvered, but it loses out on the stability of staying in the road.
Tubeless tyres have made life a lot easier of many bikers. Gone are the days of the whistling tyres on high speed which start wobbling the minute they get pierced and possibly even tear and burst. This even results in a crash if the bike is going at a high speed and the rider is unable to control the bike. With tubeless tyres, the air escaped very slowly allowing the rider to keep riding on the bike for quite some distance and that too very safely until he/she reaches a place where they can get the tyre fixed.
Human errors are one of the major causes known for any road accidents happen across the world and our country is certainly not an exception. Be it the negligence or any other unavoidable circumstances, the sheer INCOMPETENCE of the rider who is riding a powerful sportbike is the main cause of the road accident.
